This weekend offers up the first real big menu of huge games in college basketball. While there have been some meetings of powers on the national landscape already, they have been sparse. That will all change on Saturday and Sunday as some of the top teams in college basketball square off.
On Saturday, the board features games between North Carolina and Kentucky, Gonzaga and Connecticut, and Washington and Oklahoma State. Plus, a few of the bigger name mid-major schools will get their chance to pull upsets as Butler hosts Ohio State, Southern Illinois welcomes Indiana, and Davidson takes on Duke. It should be a huge day, and for anyone looking for a nice angle to play on the big card, how about the fact that UConn, who again is facing Gonzaga, is just 2 & 13 ATS versus good teams outscoring opponents by 8 or more points per game over the last two seasons. On Sunday, the big games are also plentiful, among them Kansas visiting USC, and UCLA hosting Texas.
USC is expected to be one of the top teams in the Pac 10, boasting one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the entire country this past year. The Trojans haven’t been too bad against the nation’s best even prior to this season as well, going 20 & 7 ATS against teams with a winning record recently. Meanwhile, in the Texas-UCLA clash, note that the Longhorns have had a tendency to go OVER the total when matched against the elite teams, 9 & 1 in last 10 versus the nation’s best clubs. The best part of this weekend’s big slate of action is that much of it, including all of the games we’ve mentioned, will be on the tube for your enjoyment!
